The Kangalee Arts Ensemble skates on the fringes of the avant-garde, agitprop and all that could be construed as “classical” drama. We’re aesthetically, politically, and imaginatively radical because of our insistence that the living actor is, above all, a liberator. But we cannot exist without you. We are in extremely confusing, dark, and overwhelming times. The impetus to turn away from the arts is common in such times even though it is incongruent - even dangerous - to the health of society. Artists exist to bring truth, beauty, entertainment and provocation. In times of war, global genocide, massive unemployment — our nerves and souls need soothing and deep affirmation that there is, in fact, another way to exist.
